I don't get to see my nephew, Hank (he of dog crate fame, below hehe), as often as some of the other niececs and nephews since Tricia and Bryce are the Southernmost California Kloecker sisters living down in Del Mar. So when we do get to drive or take the train down - we make it count! We spent a much too short weekend with the whole Dixon clan in early October, hanging with Hank and letting Hercules and Lexie get acquainted.
We also got to check out something I've never seen - the red tide. I assumed red tide = red, but I was way wrong. We walked down to the cliffs at night and while the pictures aren't' very clear you can see it a bit. Phosphorescent plankton. Every wave that crashed lit up electric blue in the dark. Hopefully something I'll get to see again some day...
We even got to spend some time exploring the coast, specifically the huge dog beach right on the Del Mar / Solana Beach border. Herc wasn't a fan of some of the other dogs he met, but he sure seemed to enjoy the low tide!
