Our first Havasu trip really was a fine kickoff to the hot summer thanks not only to the ever hospitable charms of the Harveys, but also to my decision to have my Dad send my wakeboard out here. Riding on the guys' giant boards trying to keep my feet from wiggling out and snapping my ankles tended to take away from my enjoyment of the whole thing.
Just a touch.
But even with the new solid digs for my feet I had to face the fact that I'm totally out of practice. Calmer, Lake Erie style water definitely would help but if I'm being honest, I can't blame it for everything! Though I must say, I'm quite a photogenic wake-eater. That's a gold medal splash right there.
The usual crew was in attendance to hold down what's become a recent
summer tradition, and to make sure none of the family recipe pina
coladas to waste. Hydration IS very important after all. It's science.
And of course as with all Havasu posts, you've got to close with a sunset shot, because the colors there are just so spectacular the way they bounce off all those red rocks. I think the shot below sums up the trip perfectly - gorgeous sunset, and Paul owning me with what I will begrudgingly admit are his superior skills. Glaringly obvious I need to polish up my jumps?
